Five Things - Anti-Ambition, Transcendentalism, Apes, Steak, Cortez - Issue #588
By Nico Lumma • Issue #588 • View online
Northern Germany got hit by a hurricane this weekend (or actually a series of hurricanes) and we got to feel the power of nature - or ideally just stayed inside and dry. At the same time the Russian crisis is heating up and I sure hope that the heads of states keep on talking with each other, because as long as they do, they won’t start shooting. There’s so much going on at the moment, I didn’t even get around to actively ignoring the winter olympics, I just totally forgot about them.
Anyhow, grab yourself a nice cup of coffee, sit down and read these five articles.

The Age of Anti-Ambition
Emerson and Thoreau’s Fanatical Freedom
Bored Apes, BuzzFeed and the Battle for the Future of the Internet
This Startup Is Trying to Make Juicy Steaks Out of Thin Air
An oral history of the Nike Cortez, 50 years after its release
Enjoy Sunday!
